Help! What is this? How did it get here? How do I make this go away? What's happening to me? I am getting these itchy patches around my body - neck, shoulder, back of knee, and elbow pit. It's been going on for about 5 weeks and I thought it was ringworm aka tinea, so I tried Lotrimin Cream, Hydrocortisone, aloe vera gel, tea tree oil, diaper rash cream, and they relieved the itch temporarily but it still comes back. Now I am trying Neosporin Jock Itch AF Miconazole 2%. I also been taking 2 showers a day and eating well. My diet includes seaweed, salads, olive oil, water, beef, chicken, fish, and occasional Red Mango yogurt. My boyfriend says that I have a pattern to develop these skin irritations every summer. I just want it to go away and keep it away. Please comment!

Eczema is an allergic condition that affects the skin. Another name for eczema is dermatitis. Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin. There are several different types of dermatitis, but the one people usually mean when they say eczema is atopic dermatitis. Atopic refers to a lifelong tendency to allergic conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis (hay fever).

Eczema can be triggered by just about anything coming in contact with the skin. It occurs in atopic people, who are extra sensitive to skin irritation. Dry, flaky skin appears over red, inflamed areas, causing intense itching and burning.

Therefore, you cannot treat it with antibiotics for anti-fungal treatments. Only isolating the source and removing it from contact with you will solve your problem.dze

Now, I'm no doctor... which means I may have some different (or good as it may be) advice.

Skin is the body's major detox organ. Which means that usually, chemicals which enter the body, that can't be processed properly will cause a rash, eczema, psoriasis, or some similar irritation, as well as pimples. I used to get similar rashes in my armpit area. I also had pimples on my face, back, chest, neck, etc- not horrible acne, but like I was in puberty only I was in my 20s. I tried the dermatology route, prescription serums, antibiotics, washes, OTC stuff... no such luck. Here is my advice based on what worked for me and, well... logic, because it makes sense when you think about it.

This way of living got rid of all the rashes and NO acne at all.

1. Only eat organic, or else at least No hormone, No antibiotic meats/chicken/egg etc. Only eat organic fruits and vegetables, especially those which absorb a lot of pesticide- you cannot wash it off, it's inside (peaches, strawberries, tomato, grapes) (ones like avocado don't absorb much so are not as important). Organic milk is vital too.

2. Go through all of your personal care products- Eliminate ALL of these chemicals from anything that contacts your skin, mouth, scalp, etc.
Propylene Glycol (avoid it in food too... it's antifreeze). It's in a LOT of lotions, conditioners, toothpaste, deoderant, sunblock, etc.
Laurel/Laureth/Ammonium Sulfates and related items. Engine degreaser strength detergents cannot be processed by the body.
Quateraniums/Polyquarteraniums- again, chemicals the body can't deal with.
There's more so- For a good analysis of products, visit http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.php?nothanks=1

3. Only use Therapeutic Grade or Grade A essential oils. These are organic. But, not all organic are therapeutic grade. Think about a plant with pesticide and now a roomful of them concentrated down to a 15 ml bottle of oil. Young Living is a good choice, that is what I use. I also use their shampoo, toothpaste, toothpaste as deoderant (the mild one)- it's baking soda, ess oils, salts, etc.

4. Read labels, don't assume natural means clean of chemicals that harm you.

5. Avoid food additives, esp. msg and related ingredients, hydrogenated or partially hydr. oils, artificial sweeteners- sucralose, aspartame, aceulfame k, all that, avoid REFINED SUGARS- that's hard, but worthwhile. Safe ones are- honey, agave, stevia, even Grade B maple syrup is ok.

6. Think about contact with chemicals you clean with- bleach, windex, shower cleaner, etc. Use gloves and only cleaners you can safely breath. For me that means baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and essential oil products.

I hope this helps you out.

OH, i also use free and clear detergent, and NO fabric softener. They don't give me rashes, but all of those artificial fragrances give me a headache!
So also- no perfume. Full of pesticide.
